Hurricane Recovery Grants: NJ 2012 Application
Please Note: The Council’s Hurricane Recovery Funds Have Been Exhausted at This Time. $35,000 Has Been Awarded to Support the Recovery Efforts of 32 Organizations Around the State.
These grants are available from the Council to help NJ humanities organizations with additional operating expenses due to damage done by or community service provided in response to Hurricane Sandy.
1) Operating support grants of up to $1,000 are available for tax-exempt humanities organizations that serve the general public in New Jersey and that incurred unexpected costs due to Hurricane Sandy. These grants can be used to defray operating expenses from adding extra hours, or needing extra staff time to brace for or clean up from the storm. They can also be used to cushion revenue loss from cancelled programs.
2) Grants of up to $1500 are offered to a local 501c3 organization willing to organize clean-up and stabilization of storm damage to a local historic cemetery.
Any New Jersey humanities organization whose operations and/or community were affected by Sandy is eligible to apply. Organizations that have already received Council grant support in 2012 may also apply.
Applications for these special grants will be accepted on a rolling basis until March 1, 2013 with notification within four weeks of the receipt of an application.
